Having a love of people influenced my desire to paint people.

Spending years looking through a 35mm camera photographing people and being photographed myself,  gave me an awareness of composition and placement. I studied my proof sheets improving my skills and awareness to improve my models gestures and composition.
Ever since I could remember, I always wanted to paint people. I got very lucky and found a amazing artist whom taught  me how to see and paint people, Marie Klingenbeck.
With great enthusiasm, I plunged into  painting people. Having my photographic background, I decide to first photograph my subject  and pick out the best composition and start painting. If doing a portrait , one should sit with the model about 3/4 threw to get the correct skin tones and exact lickness. The paintings in this group are all real people whom I found searching for special qualities, a certain something when photographed resulted  in these paintings. You will notice  that I like unusual  juxtapositions, ballerinas in stables, ballerina with boxers, unusual combinations. The most important thing is that you have got to be jazzed about what you are painting. Let that energy carry through  into your painting. Doing groups with a similar theme has led into all these different categories,  publishing opportunities and licensing images.
